TABNAK, Sep, 08: Chairman of Iran’s Chamber of Trade, Industries, Mines and Agriculture Farajollah Memamri called for Chinese investors to involve in developing modern and hi-tech solar power plants in Semnan Province.

The province is of great potential for developing renewable energies, especially solar plants.

Building and developing large-scale and small-scale power plants, supplying solar panels, equipping solar plants and transferring required expertise are domains in which Iran invites China to take part.

Earlier in February 2023, Iran launched its most modern solar farm in its central province of Semnan amid plans by the Energy Ministry to boost renewable capacity and to make them more economically viable.

The 10 megawatt (MW) solar farm, inaugurated in the city of Damghan is generating 40% more energy compared to similar farms thanks to the technologies used in the plant.

The farm is equipped with bifacial solar panels, a modern light detection system and home-grown robotic panel cleaners which help it significantly reduce its water consumption and maintenance costs.

A private company has invested 5.8 million euros to build the solar farm in Damghan.

Last November, a Chinese company signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Iran’s Maku Free Zone Organization to invest $7.0 million in a power plant project to supply electricity for the zone’s startups and IT companies.

According to Head of Maku Free Zone Organization Hossein Garousi, the mentioned MOU is signed in line with the zone’s plans for becoming a smart city, Maku Free Zone portal reported.

“This zone has the necessary hardware and software infrastructure to become a smart city,” Garousi said.
